What would you want Shuksan to know about Hispanic Heritage Month?
That’s a tough question. Being Hispanic or Latino can mean many different things depending on who you are. Hispanic people are very diverse. I am bi-cultural (half American, half Mexican), which is special and sometimes challenging, so I think about how that has shaped me. I also think about the love I feel for my Spanish language and how it allows me connect with others that I couldn’t otherwise. As I’ve gotten older and connected more with my Mexican roots, being Hispanic makes me think of family, laughing hard, eating big meals with loved ones, and taking care of my community. But it’s so much more! What is one great way to celebrate HHM?
